Session Report #3

 Session #3 report (6th & 7th of Hammer, 1493 DR)

The party consisted of Valian Lightfingers (human rogue), Fradd (human rogue), Gwydion the Bard (half-elf bard) and Forwyn Brightflame (high elf fighter).

The party started off the session by heading down to the Docks Ward to further investigate the kidnapping of Floon Blaggmar. On their way to the Skewered Dragon, the rogues noticed that they were being tailed by a thuggish looking fellow. Valian slipped off so he could get into a good stabbing position behind their unknown pursuer. Meanwhile, the bard turned around and approached the tail head on--and successfully persuaded this thuggish looking fellow to sit down for a discussion at the bar, rather than try to resolve all his problems with violence.

At the skewered dragon, the party learned that their erstwhile follower was Randall Greycastle--a low-ranking member of the Black Network. Randall told the party that he was the only one left of his crew--the rest had been taken out in an ambush attack by the Eyes. The party also learned that Randall had been involved in the initial kidnapping of Floon Blaggmar (“the wrong guy,” as Randall said). The Zhentarim abducted two similar looking young men about a week ago--Floon, and Renaer Neverember. Renaer--the son of the disgraced former Open Lord [Dagult Neverember] was the Zhentarim’s real target.

First, Aeoth--who began his career as a lowly 1/8 CR guard henchman--was given the Barony of Zundbridge.  Upon arriving in Zundbridge, Baron Aeoth discovered that his new town was suffering from a deadly plague--and spent roughly 3.5 weeks of downtime trying to save as many people in his new town from dying of the sewer plague.  (Aeoth is not available for play or downtime until June 22). How I run Downtime and the Calendar:

 What is downtime? Downtime is what happens between sessions of D&D.  For example, between two recent sessions, one of my players spent his downtime buying powdered diamonds, and building a collapsable scaffold so that he could cast multiple glyphs of warding (essentially D&D landmines that only are triggered by a particular creature or creature type) to set a massive explosive trap for an Aboleth in the sewers of Waterdeep.  Downtime gives the players freedom to pursue their own sidegoals, and flesh out their characters, without taking up time when everyone is sitting down to play the actual campaign. Downtime ALSO allows the WORLD to change, adapt, and react to the actions of the players.  So for example, early in the campaign, the players spent a few sessions delving into a crypt in the City of the Dead (a cross between Central Park and a cemetery--probably best avoided at night, you might run into the crazy bird lady from Home Alone 2).  This particular crypt is owned by a

Session #25

The 25th session was played on June 7, 2021 (Kythorn 7, 1493 DR).  There were three characters present: Lord Valian Lightfinger, Lord Fradd, and Lord Vanilla Gold.  All three are playing as rogues.  So despite their recent enoblement at the end of session #24, the party decided they wanted to go on a "heist" against a noble villa that Valian Lightfinger scoped out during downtime a few weeks ago. However, first, the party went to meet with the Zhentarim.  Specifically Valian was looking for the information he hired to Zhentarim to obtain for him--a report on the whereabouts of the Black Viper (or Diane Roznar).  Because they didn't check in to give him the report this week.  The Zhentarim seemed sort of preocupied when Valian showed up to ask for information on the two footpads he had hired to track down Lady Roznar.  But Valian's Zhent contacts did inform him that his two Zhentarim footpads had gone missing about a week prior, and havent been seen since.
