Session 15

This session was divided into three parts.

In the first segment, the party was composed of Valian (Rogue) Gywdion (bard) and Aoth (Paladin).  The party followed up on a lead they interrogated out of a cultist they captured in the City sewers a few weeks ago to enter the Temple of Asmodeus through the sewer entrance.  This temple is located under the house of a prominent noble family of Waterdeep.  Inside the party located a desecrated tomb of a paladin, who asked the party's paladin to take up his weapons and cleanse the evil temple.  The party did so with relish, killing two devils and several cultists who attempted to taunt the paladin for worshiping a mythical sky-daddy.  They very quickly were dispatched with a mace.

In the second segment, the party was composed of Fradd (rogue), Aoth (paladin), Gywdion (bard), and a wizard and a druid.  The party followed up on a quest which Fradd recieved several weeks ago from the "Baron of Blood" a vampire who is apparently upset about a necromancer and his goth gf who have recently set up shop in the City of the Dead (which the vampire apparently sees as his rightful domain).  This was the party's second excursion into the necromancer Crypt, and as soon as they opened the door they were confronted by the necromancer very powerful warlock girlfriend who hit them pretty hard and nearly killed the paladin. (He was posting on Twitter instead of paying attention, sad).  After taking down the purple haired tattooed witch of the cthonic powers, the party decided to take a rest, and Fradd's player called it a night.

In the final segment, the party was composed of Valian, Gwydion, and Forwyn (elf fighter)  after Fradd's departure,  the party decided to take their chances again in Undermountain, which was the dungeon where we kicked off the campaign, but which the party has been reluctant to re-enter since their first expedition ended ignominiously in a TPK back in December.  They followed several bugbears through the dungeon to a goblin hideout apparently connected with a thieves guild run by Xanathar a mysterious beholder/crimelord.  After the players killed the four bugbears, their skulls exploded unleashing intellect devoured which the party definitely wasn't prepared for.  They left the Xanathar Guild Lair without exploring further.  And that was where we called it a night.

My main takeaways are that running a diabolical cult as a mash-up of reddit atheists // finder's cult was fun.  And that monsters which transform into more dangerous monsters when you kill them(like intellect devourers) are great and I should do it more often.
